The Super Bowl has only become stable since 1975. However, in 1981 Liverpool could not agree on the timing of matches with Dynamo Tbilisi, and in 1984, due to a tight calendar, agreed to determine the winner in one match, which was held on the opponent's field in Turin.
In 1985, Liverpool met Juventus in the European Cup final at the Brussels Eysel Stadium and again lost to Turin. The following year, 1986, the format of the Super Bowl again had to be changed in a hurry. Dynamo Kyiv and Steaua could not agree on holding matches in the USSR and Romania, and the only match had to be played on a neutral field. So the Louis II Stadium in Monaco became the venue for the Super Bowl for the first time.
In 1991, the outcome of the confrontation was again decided by one match - Manchester United hosted Crvena Zvezda at Old Trafford's home arena, since the political situation in Belgrade was considered unstable, and it was decided to cancel the match in Yugoslavia.
In 1998, after addressing the many difficulties associated with hosting the Super Cup, UEFA revisited the experience of a one-match tournament format at a neutral venue and the match has since been permanently assigned to the Stade Louis II.
After the abolition of the Cup Winners' Cup at the end of the 1998/1999 season, it was decided to play a match for the Super Cup between the winners of the Champions League and the UEFA Cup.

Barcelona defeated Sevilla 5-4 in extra time. It is worth noting along the way several records set in this match. Sevilla is the first team to win back a 3-goal candicap. The most productive final is 9 goals in one match. Barcelona is the first team to score 5 goals in one match of the UEFA Super Cup final. Barcelona equaled Ajax Amsterdam in 17 UEFA Super Cup finals in goals scored. First team in Europe to hold two eternal international trophies in the same year UEFA Champions League 2015 5 wins in total and UEFA Super Cup 2015 also after 5 wins in total.

Trophy
The current Supercup was first awarded in 2006 to Sevilla. Prior to this, for a long time the Super Cup was the smallest of the European trophies. He weighed only 5 kilograms with a height of 42.5 centimeters. For comparison, the Champions League Cup weighs 8 kg, and the Europa League Cup weighs 15 kg.
A modern cup with a height of 58 centimeters weighs 12.2 kilograms.
The new trophy retains the key design elements of its predecessor, designed at the Bertoni workshop in Milan. The classic bowl flows smoothly into the onyx base, made in the form of a twisted skein of wool, and two side handles allow you to comfortably hold the goblet.
The Super Bowl is a challenge prize. Instead of a challenge prize, a copy of it is permanently awarded. If a club wins a challenge prize 3 times in a row or 5 times in total, the prize remains in that club forever. For the first time, Milan received it for eternal storage in 2007 after defeating Sevilla (3: 1). And Barcelona in 2015 after the fifth victory in total.
Format
Initially, the Super Bowl was played in a double match - home and away, although there were exceptions. The team that scored more goals in the sum of two games was declared the winner. Only once had to resort to counting away goals - in 1980, when Valencia defeated Nottingham Forest. Extra time was needed in 1982 when Aston Villa defeated Barcelona. The outcome of the match for the UEFA Super Cup in 2013 was first determined in a penalty shootout, and in 2000 Galatasaray defeated Real Madrid according to the golden goal rule.
The UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League winning clubs currently compete in the Super Cup match. The outcome of the fight is decided in one match.
The rules of the match are similar to the format of European cup finals. If the score remains tied after regular time, two additional halves of 15 minutes are added. If they do not reveal the winner, the outcome of the match is decided in a penalty shootout.
Prize money
The winning club receives €5m, the losing club €3m.
Match tickets
60% of the tickets are distributed among the fans of the playing teams. Some places are reserved for high-ranking guests. The rest of the seats are being sold by UEFA through an online auction. No more than two lottery tickets are given to one hand. There is also a €5 service charge.

August 12, 2014, Cardiff City- Real Madrid, which won its tenth European Cup in May, thanks to two goals scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, one in each half, beat Europa League winners Sevilla in the Welsh capital. So the collection of the "royal club" was replenished with the second UEFA Super Cup.
UEFA Super Cup. Story.
The UEFA Super Cup is the official football tournament that opens the European season and consists of one match, in which the winners of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League of the previous season meet. Since the draw is held at the end of August, before the start of the autumn-spring football season, at the end of the summer transfer window, the updated squads of the winning teams from previous tournaments usually participate in the draw.
The idea of the birth of the UEFA Super Cup was born in Holland at a time when the whole of Europe was terrified by the clubs of this country, especially Ajax. The founder of the tournament was Anton Witkamp, a reporter for the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
Wittkamp suggested holding a new tournament for the best teams in Europe, which would be another test for Ajax Amsterdam. The Dutchman once said the following about the UEFA Super Cup: "I made it up to once again praise Johan Cruyff and his Ajax. It was our time, because everyone was in awe of total football."
At that time, Feyenoord and Ajax reached the European Cup final four times and won the prestigious trophy three times. This period was considered the "golden era" of Dutch football, the Dutch clubs were considered the strongest in Europe.
When Wittkamp pitched his idea to Ajax president Jaap van Prag, he was enthusiastic about the proposal, and preparations for the tournament soon began under the auspices of Wittkamp's newspaper. But the current UEFA president, Artemio Franchi, denied them official support for the tournament due to a year-long suspension of Ajax's opponent, Rangers, because of the inappropriate behavior of the club's fans from Glasgow.
Since the “Rangers” celebrated its centenary, it was decided to play the title of the strongest in an informal confrontation. As a result, the first Super Cup in 1972 took place, financed by De Telegraaf, and UEFA did not recognize it. On the sum of two matches played at home and away, Ajax won with a score of 6:3.
A year later, UEFA agreed to officially recognize the Super Cup and host a match between AC Milan and Ajax, who again won the European Cup. "Milan" in the first match was able to beat "Ajax" - 1:0, but lost in the second leg with a score of 0:6.
The 1974 Super Cup did not take place due to a timing dispute between West German Bayern Munich and Magdeburg of the GDR.
The Super Bowl has been regularly played since 1975. The exception was 1981, when Liverpool did not find time to meet with Dynamo Tbilisi, and in 1984, the dispute between the English team and Juventus was decided by just one meeting, in which the British lost.
In 1985, Liverpool met with Juventus in the European Cup final at the Eisel Stadium in Brussels and again lost to Turin. In the meantime, there was a clash between fans in the stands that resulted in deaths, known as the Heysel Tragedy. As a result, English teams were suspended for five years in all UEFA competitions, including Juventus' rivals Everton, who won the Cup Winners' Cup. The 1985 Super Bowl was cancelled.
The following year, 1986, the format of the Super Bowl again had to be changed in a hurry. Dynamo Kyiv and Steaua could not agree on holding matches in the USSR and Romania, and the only match had to be played on a neutral field. This is how the Stade Louis II in Monaco became the venue for the Super Bowl for the first time.
In 1991, the outcome of the confrontation was again decided by one match - Manchester United hosted Crvena Zvezda at the home arena of Old Trafford, as the political situation in Belgrade was considered unstable, and it was decided to cancel the match in Yugoslavia.
In 1998, UEFA, given the problems that arose, approved a new tournament format: one match at a neutral arena. The arena was the Stade Louis II.
In Monaco, the UEFA Super Cup was played from 1998 to 2012, and at the same time the new European Cup season opened in this way. After 1999, when the last edition of the Cup Winners' Cup took place, the trophy was contested by the winners of the Champions League and the UEFA Cup (since 2010 - the UEFA Europa League), and since 2013 matches for the UEFA Super Cup have been held in different cities.
